Description
This is an opal LED GLS bulb with an E27 screw cap, the larger screw fitting used in many ceiling pendants, table lamps and floor lamps. It keeps the familiar rounded shape of a traditional household bulb and is 10.7cm long and 6cm across, so it looks at home in an open pendant as well as under a shade. The opal plastic dome diffuses the light from the LEDs inside into a soft, even glow. Its IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors and in dry rooms only, never outdoors or near water.
It gives 806 lumens of cool white light at 4000K, a crisp, neutral white that suits kitchens, home offices, utility rooms and desk lamps where you want to see clearly while you work. Drawing just 5.9W, it is an economical choice for the lights you leave burning for hours each evening. We like it in a bare pendant hung low over a side table or a kitchen island, where the opal dome keeps the glow gentle on the eye. As the bulb is not dimmable, it belongs in a fitting worked by an ordinary on and off switch.
The opal shade is made of plastic, and plastic is far lighter than glass; packed, the whole bulb weighs only 0.064KG. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50 or 60Hz and carries an energy class of D. It makes a sensible spare to keep in a drawer, so a failed bulb in the kitchen or study never leaves you working in the dark. The practical note before you order: check that your lampholder takes the larger E27 screw cap and that the light is worked by a plain switch rather than a dimmer.
