Description
Our opal LED GLS bulb is the classic pear-shaped household lamp, with a smooth opal white cover and a silver-coloured E27 screw cap. E27 is the larger screw fitting, used by a great many ceiling pendants, table lamps and floor lamps. The bulb draws 15W and gives 1,521lm of light at 3000K, which is warm white: a soft, homely tone rather than the crisp, cool white of an office or a shop. Its energy class is F. We have no IP rating to give for it, so keep it to dry rooms indoors.
With 1,521lm behind it, this is a bright bulb and a sound choice where a single lamp has to light a whole room: the main pendant in a living room or bedroom, a hallway, or a landing where you want to see every step clearly. The 3000K warm white keeps that brightness comfortable through the evening, so the room feels well lit rather than glaring. Because the cover is opal, the LEDs inside stay hidden and the glow spreads evenly, which makes it a tidy pick for a bare pendant or an open shade where the bulb itself is on show.
Before you order, look at the bulb in your current lamp: this one needs an E27 screw holder and will not go into a bayonet holder or one made for a smaller screw cap. It is also worth checking that the light fitting is rated for a 15W bulb. To change it, switch off at the wall and let the old bulb cool before you unscrew it. For care, a soft, dry cloth wiped over the opal cover now and then keeps the light clean and even, and it is the simplest way to keep a bright room looking its best.

Frequently Asked
Which cap does this bulb have?
It has an E27 screw cap, the larger of the common screw types, so it suits pendants, table lamps and floor lamps that take an E27 bulb, but not a bayonet holder.
How bright is the bulb?
It gives 1,521lm from 15W, which is plenty for the main light in a living room, bedroom or hallway where one bulb has to light the whole space.
What colour of light does it give?
Its colour temperature is 3000K, a warm white that feels soft and relaxed in the evening, rather than the cooler white of an office.
What does the opal finish do?
The opal cover hides the LEDs and spreads the glow evenly, so the bulb looks tidy and gives a softer light in a bare pendant or an open shade.
What energy class is the bulb?
The bulb carries energy class F, and as an LED bulb it needs only 15W to give its 1,521lm of warm white light.
