Description
The Knightsbridge Odan is a trimless plaster-in downlight with a tiltable GU10 lamp holder housed in a white die-cast aluminium surround. The 94mm diameter body sits flush with the plasterwork once installed, leaving only the lamp aperture visible for a minimal ceiling appearance. The lamp holder tilts within the housing, allowing the light to be directed onto walls, shelves, or feature areas rather than fixed straight down.
Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality ceilings with a minimum 90mm void depth, the Odan fits a 106mm ceiling cut-out and projects just 2mm below the finished plaster surface. The trimless design means plasterboard is cut to the edge of the surround and the skim coat continues over the lip, leaving no decorative bezel or visible metal ring. This gives a cleaner finish than conventional downlights where a chrome or white ring sits proud of the ceiling.
The GU10 lamp holder pulls out below the ceiling level for bulb changes without removing the entire fitting, and the tool-free cable termination accepts loop-in/loop-out wiring for rapid second fix during installation. The fitting is rated Class II (double-insulated) and IP20, so it's suitable for dry interior ceilings but not bathrooms or wet areas. Maximum lamp wattage is 10W, which suits modern LED GU10 lamps across warm, neutral and cool colour temperatures.
The Odan is compatible with Knightsbridge's range of fire hoods where additional fire rating is required — check the specific fire hood technical data to confirm compatibility with the 106mm cut-out and 38mm recessed depth of this fitting. The raised lamp position within the housing reduces direct glare compared to flush-mounted GU10 fittings.

Frequently Asked
What does trimless mean in practice?
Trimless means the fitting has no decorative bezel or visible metal ring sitting proud of the ceiling. The plasterboard is cut to the edge of the downlight surround and the skim coat continues over the lip, leaving only the lamp aperture visible once the ceiling is finished.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
A minimum 90mm void depth is required above the finished ceiling surface to accommodate the 38mm recessed depth of the fitting and allow clearance for the lamp holder and wiring.
Can the lamp be changed without removing the fitting?
Yes. The GU10 lamp holder pulls out below the ceiling level, allowing the bulb to be changed from below without disturbing the plasterwork or removing the entire fitting.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means this fitting is suitable for dry interior ceilings only. Bathrooms and wet areas require IP44 or IP65-rated downlights depending on the zone.
