Description

The NU-X NSS-6 Solid Studio mkII is a redesigned version of the original Solid Studio amp and speaker emulation pedal. This edition adds a large full colour display and a data entry dial, which makes menu-driven editing and deep parameter control far easier to work through. You can plug a guitar straight into the input to use the built-in amp models, or set the pedal to sit between a guitar amp and speaker (cabinet), using the natural tone of your own amp into any of the speaker emulations before sending on to the PA or an FRFR speaker.

Four main blocks handle the sound: Amplifier, dual independent Speaker emulation, EQ and Ambience. The pedal uses the TSAC-4K high definition algorithm for true-to-life models of classic amps, cabinets and microphones, drawn from the built-in profiles and from imported user I.R. (impulse response) files. The EQ section gives you global tone sculpting, while the Ambience section adds time-based spatial effects for a sense of breadth and space around the emulated tones.

Alongside the onboard editing, the Solid Studio mkII connects to a PC via USB-C, so you can program it with the free Solid Studio mkII software or the mobile app. Mix and match preamp and power amp types with two sets of speaker and mic combinations saved to internal memory, then recall them at the tap of a footswitch. Inputs and outputs include a 6.3mm input for guitar or speaker output, a 3.5mm aux in, two 6.3mm outputs, a 6.3mm through and a 3.5mm phones out. It runs on a 9V DC supply and weighs 440g, so it fits neatly on a board for both live and recording work.
