Description
The NU-X NOD-3 Morning Star is a blues drive pedal with a bit extra up its sleeve. Alongside the usual Drive, Tone and Level controls, it gives you a Shine mode that you engage by holding down the on/off footswitch. Shine boosts the high frequencies to add sparkle, which helps your sound cut through a busy mix when you need it to.
The gain range here is wide, so you can dial in anything from a natural break-up at lower settings through to a thick overdrive when you push it harder. That covers a lot of ground, from gentle blues playing to full-on rock. The Drive control sets how much dirt you get, Tone shapes the top end, and Level matches the pedal to the rest of your rig. You can run it in true bypass or buffered bypass, so it fits whether you have a short signal chain or a longer one that needs a buffer to keep things clean.
The Morning Star needs a 9V centre-negative DC power supply with a 100mA current draw, which isn't supplied in the box. The compatible power supply is our part 173.290UK. Input impedance is 1M Ohm and output impedance is 1k Ohm. It measures 94 x 53 x 51mm and weighs 174g, so it takes up little room on your pedalboard. If you want an overdrive that does the standard job well and adds a treble boost on tap, this is worth a look.

Frequently Asked
Does the NOD-3 come with a power supply?
No, a power supply isn't included. You'll need a 9V centre-negative DC supply with at least 100mA current draw. Our compatible power supply part number is 173.290UK.
What does the Shine mode do?
Shine is a switchable treble boost. You engage it by holding down the on/off footswitch, and it lifts the high frequencies to add sparkle and help your tone cut through a mix.
Can I use true bypass with this pedal?
Yes. The NOD-3 offers both true bypass and buffered bypass operation, so you can choose whichever suits your signal chain.
What kind of tones can I get from it?
The gain range runs from a natural break-up at lower settings to a thick overdrive when pushed harder. That covers blues right through to rock styles.
How big is the pedal?
It measures 94 x 53 x 51mm and weighs 174g, so it fits easily onto a pedalboard without taking up much space.
What controls does it have?
You get Drive, Tone and Level controls, plus an On/Off/Mode switch that also engages the Shine treble boost.
