Description

The NU-X NOD-1 Horseman is our nod to one of the most sought-after dual overdrive and boost pedals from the mid '90s, the legendary Centaur. We've packed that sound into a pocket-sized enclosure, so you get a well-known voice without the well-known price tag. It runs on a standard 9V centre-negative supply, drawing 90mA, and delivers the sort of headroom that usually calls for an 18V input.

Two modes give you room to move. Gold mode keeps things closer to the classic overdrive character, while Silver leans towards a cleaner, higher-headroom boost. Three dials handle the primary settings, Treble, Gain and Output, alongside the On/Off/Mode switch. You can pick between true bypass and buffered bypass, so the pedal fits whichever signal chain you're running. Input impedance sits at 1M Ohm with a 10k Ohm output.

At 94 x 53 x 51mm and 174g, the Horseman takes up very little space on a pedalboard (or stompbox, if you prefer the older term). It offers boutique-style transparent overdrive that lets your guitar and amp keep their own tone rather than covering it up. You'll need a compatible centre-negative power adaptor, which isn't supplied. This is a straightforward way to add clean boost and overdrive to your rig without spending a fortune.
