Description
The NU-X NGS-6 Amp Academy packs a full valve amp modelling rig into a compact stompbox. You get six separate classic amplifier models, split across two channels, with three storable scenes so you can flick between your favourite setups on the fly. Each patch has Gain, Master and Boost for pushing into overdriven tones, plus a 3-band EQ and Presence control to shape the response. As you would find on a real tube amp, there is an internal reverb effect and a proper effects loop for slotting in your own pedals.
Balanced and unbalanced outputs give you options for how you connect. Run it into an FRFR (full-range flat-response) speaker, a mixing console or straight into your interface for direct recording. The XLR DI output handles the balanced side, while a 6.3mm output covers unbalanced use. A built-in noise gate keeps things quiet when you are not playing, and the effects send/return loop lets you place time-based effects in the right part of the signal chain.
Every setting is editable over USB using the free NU-X Amp Academy software, available from nuxefx.com. You can also load your own or third-party IRs (impulse responses) for custom amp and cabinet modelling, so the tonal range is not limited to the factory models. It runs on a 9Vdc, 300mA pin-negative supply (not included) and measures 115 x 105 x 58mm at 440g, making it a genuine pocket-sized alternative to carrying a heavy valve amp to every gig or session.

Frequently Asked
Does the NGS-6 come with a power supply?
No, the power supply is not included. It needs a 9Vdc, 300mA (minimum) pin-negative adaptor. A suitable NU-X adaptor (173.290UK) is available separately.
Can I load my own impulse responses?
Yes. Alongside the built-in IR loader, you can load self-made or third-party IRs via USB using the free Amp Academy editor software for custom amp and cabinet tones.
How many amp models does it have?
There are six separate classic amplifier models, arranged across two channels with three storable scenes so you can save and recall different setups.
Can I use it for direct recording?
Yes. It has an XLR DI output for balanced connection, so you can run straight into a mixing console or audio interface for direct recording without a mic'd cabinet.
Is there an effects loop?
