Description

The NU-X NDD-3 Edge is a compact delay pedal (US: stompbox) with three switchable modes covering Phi Digital Delay, Analog Delay and Tape Echo. Phi Digital Delay gives a tapped repeat for a musical, rhythmic effect. Analog emulates bucket brigade device circuits, with repeats that soften and fade out gently. Tape Echo simulates the magnetic tape loop machines of the 60s and 70s for a more organic echo with tone-tempered repeats. You switch between all three using the illuminated push button above the controls.

Controls run to Time, Repeat and Mix, so you can shape each effect to suit the track. Pressing the footswitch engages or disengages the effect, and the smart tap tempo feature reads a quick double press of the footswitch to set the timing. Holding the mode button down during power-up chooses between mono and stereo output, with stereo needing a stereo jack lead. Between them, the three delay types cover a wide range of playing styles.

The chassis is aluminium die-cast, so it stays strong while keeping the weight down to 175g at 94 x 53 x 51mm. A USB-C port is fitted for future firmware updates. You can set buffered or true bypass to match your signal chain. The pedal runs on a 9V centre-negative DC supply with a 100mA current draw through a DC5521 connector; the adaptor is not supplied, and compatible power supply 173.290UK works with it.
