Description

The NU-X NCH-5 is a compact modulation pedal that packs three switchable effects into one small housing. Chorus thickens your sound by modulating a short delay for a swirling, spacious tone. Flanger tightens things up with a very fine delay that regenerates for rotating, tubular jet sounds. Pitch Modulation gives a lighter effect, slightly varying the pitch and mixing it back with the dry signal. You switch between the three modes using an illuminated push button sitting above the controls, so you always know which mode is active.

Three knobs cover Speed, Width and Intensity, giving you room to shape each effect to suit the part you are playing. The footswitch (US: stomp switch) engages and disengages the effect, and a smart tap tempo feature reads two quick presses to set the speed. Holding the mode button during power-up lets you choose between mono and stereo output, with stereo needing a stereo jack lead. You can also select buffered or true bypass depending on how you run your signal chain, so the pedal fits neatly whether it sits first or last on your board.

The chassis is die-cast aluminium, so it stays strong while keeping the weight down to 175g. A USB-C port lets you install future firmware updates as they arrive. It runs on a 9V centre-negative DC power supply drawing 100mA, which is not included, though our compatible supply (173.290UK) works well. Measuring 94 x 53 x 51mm, it takes up little space on a crowded pedalboard while still giving you plenty of movement across chords and picked passages.

What effects does the NCH-5 offer?

Does the pedal come with a power supply?

No. It needs a 9V centre-negative DC power supply with a 100mA current draw. Our compatible supply, part 173.290UK, is sold separately.

Can I use it in stereo?

Yes. Hold the mode button during power-up to switch between mono and stereo output. Stereo output requires a stereo jack lead.

How does the tap tempo work?

The smart tap tempo recognises when you press the footswitch twice in a short space of time and sets the speed to match that timing.

Can I choose the bypass type?

Yes. You can select buffered or true bypass to suit your signal chain and pedalboard layout.

What is the USB-C port for?

The USB-C port is used for installing future firmware updates to the pedal.
