Description

The NU-X NCA-1 Amp Core Studio is a guitar amplifier simulator built into a compact pedal, or stompbox, that fits in your gig bag. Inside this single unit you get 26 amplifier models paired with 33 speaker cabinet emulations, plus 12 empty slots for loading your own impulse response (IR) files. That gives you a wide spread of classic amp tones to work through without hauling a rig around.

Editing is handled by a menu-driven colour display and three rotary controls, so you can set the gain, tone, level and other parameters across the 20 internal presets. Each preset holds separate settings for three scenes, which you toggle through on the fly using the single footswitch. The footswitch also covers bypass and either two or three scene options depending on how you set it up. For deeper editing and setup, the free Amp Core Studio software runs on Windows and macOS, connecting over USB-C for the editor, firmware updates and user IRs.

An internal noise gate and a send-return loop for external effects round out the package, and there is a separate headphones output for quiet practice. Programmable MIDI control lets you fit the pedal into a larger setup. Connections include In/Out and Send/Return on 6.3mm jacks, USB-C, phones and MIDI on 3.5mm. The unit runs at 44.1kHz, 24-bit with a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response and a 108dB dynamic range. It measures 122 x 72 x 48mm and weighs 264g. Note that a suitable 9Vdc power adaptor is required and sold separately.
