Description
The NU-X MP-3 Mighty Plug Pro is a pocket-size headphone amplifier for guitar and bass players who want to practise in silence. It plugs straight into your instrument's output jack, and once you connect a pair of headphones you can play fully amplified sounds without disturbing anyone around you. Despite the small format, there's a lot packed inside, with TSAC-HD amplifier models for realistic response, 43 stomp box effect models and both guitar and bass voicings to work with.
You get 7 internal editable presets, reachable through the LED backlit button, plus 36 built-in impulse response (I.R.) simulations and 18 user slots for your own. Editing is handled over Bluetooth through the Mighty Amp app for phones and tablets, or the Mighty Editor software for PC, both free to download. Bluetooth also carries audio playback, so you can pair a device and jam along to your favourite tracks. The unit doubles as a USB-audio interface (OTG) for recording and live-streaming, with a headset connection through the 3.5mm TRRS jack that includes a mic input.
There are no batteries to replace, as the MP-3 charges over USB, and the same connection handles firmware updates and recording or playback duties. Technical figures sit well for practice and recording: a 103dB dynamic range, 48kHz 32-bit sampling, 1.2ms latency and a 1M Ohm input impedance. At 81 x 41 x 30mm and just 70g, it fits in a pocket or gig bag with room to spare, running from an internal 3.7V 1450mAh LiPo cell. For quiet practice, home recording and general sound exploration, it covers a lot of ground in a tiny package.
