Description

The NU-X Metal Core Deluxe mkII builds on the original Metal Core Deluxe with three selectable amplifier models, each based on much-revered high gain valve amps. You get Duo Rect, Fireman and VH4 voicings, giving you a spread of metal tones that cover everything from hard rock through to thrash. A model switch lets you move between the three, and the pedal stores your settings for each one so you can recall them quickly without dialling everything back in.

Control-wise, this version adds a Middle knob to make a full 3-band EQ of Bass, Middle and Treble. Paired with the Gain and Master controls, you have the same set of adjustments you would expect from a real amplifier front panel. There is also switchable IR cabinet simulation on board. With the simulation on, you can run the pedal straight into a full-range PA or audio interface. With it off, the pedal works as a hard-edged drive into the front end of your guitar amp, so it fits both stage and recording setups.

The Metal Core Deluxe mkII uses true bypass, keeping your signal clean when the pedal is off. A USB-C port handles firmware updates and future software, so the pedal can grow over time. It runs on a 9V DC power adaptor (pin-negative, DC5521 jack) which is sold separately, and draws under 120mA. The compact housing measures 122 x 72 x 47mm and weighs 270g, with a 6.3mm jack input and output and a dynamic range of 104dB.

Frequently Asked

What amp models does the Metal Core Deluxe mkII include?

It has three high-gain models: Duo Rect, Fireman and VH4. Each is based on a well-regarded high gain valve amplifier, and you switch between them with the model switch.

Does it need a power supply?

Yes. The pedal requires a 9V DC power adaptor (pin-negative, DC5521 jack), sold separately. It draws under 120mA in use.

Can I plug it straight into a PA or interface?

Yes. With the switchable IR cabinet simulation on, you can run it directly into a full-range PA or interface. Switch the simulation off to use it as a drive pedal into the front of a guitar amp.

Does it remember my settings for each model?

It does. The pedal auto-stores your control settings for each of the three amp models, so switching models recalls your tones straight away.

What is the USB-C port for?

The USB-C connection is used for firmware updates and future software, so the pedal can be kept up to date over time.

Is the pedal true bypass?

Yes, it uses true bypass, so your signal path stays clean when the pedal is switched off.
