Description

The Norette is a three-blade ceiling fan in a matt white finish, hung from a short downrod beneath a neat, rounded ceiling canopy. Its body is ABS, a tough and lightweight plastic, and the three broad blades sweep out from a slim central hub in long, curving shapes. It measures 132cm across the blades and is 28.5cm high overall. This is a fan only, with no built-in light, and it runs from a 220-240V, 50Hz mains supply. Its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room, so it is not one for a bathroom, a covered porch or anywhere outdoors.

We would hang it in a living room, a bedroom, a dining room or a home office, wherever a steady movement of air makes a warm day more comfortable. Five speeds let you choose anything from a gentle drift while you sleep to a brisker breeze on the hottest afternoons. Because it is reversible, it earns its place all year: run it one way for a cooling downdraught in summer, then switch direction in winter to push the warm air that gathers at the ceiling back down into the room. The matt white finish blends into a white ceiling, so the fan reads as part of the room rather than a dark shape overhead.

The remote control comes in the box and runs the fan, so you can change the speed from the sofa or the bed without leaving your seat. As a wired mains fan, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. It weighs 7.6KG packed, which is worth knowing before you carry it up a ladder. Before you order, measure the room to be sure the 132cm span has clear space around it, well away from walls and tall furniture.

Frequently Asked

Can the Norette go in a bathroom?

No. Its IP20 rating means it belongs indoors in a dry room, so we would not fit it in a bathroom, a porch or anywhere outdoors.

Does the fan have a light?

No, the Norette is a fan only, with three matt white blades and no built-in light, so plan separate lighting for the room.

How many speeds does it have?

It has five speeds, chosen with the remote control that comes in the box, from a gentle drift to a stronger breeze.

What does reversible mean on a ceiling fan?

You can change the direction the blades turn: one way gives a cooling downdraught in summer, and the other helps move warm air from the ceiling in winter.

How big is the fan?

It measures 132cm across the blades and is 28.5cm high overall, and it weighs 7.6KG once packed.

What material is the body?

The body is ABS, a tough and lightweight plastic, finished in matt white to match the three curved blades.
