Description

The Nora is a 200mm semi-flush ceiling light with a dual-layer glass shade: a smoked outer cylinder and a frosted inner diffuser, mounted on a black marble-effect canopy with a dark metal ceiling plate. The E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the frosted diffuser, which softens the light before it passes through the outer smoked glass, creating a warm ambient glow with a subtle shadowed edge.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above, the Nora works in hallways, bedrooms, dining areas and landings where a semi-flush fitting provides downlight without hanging low into the space. The 340mm total drop from ceiling to shade base gives enough projection for the light to spread across a 3-4m room without needing a pendant cable run. The dual-glass construction reduces glare from the exposed bulb while keeping the light source visible through the smoked outer shade.

The black marble-effect canopy is a textured plastic finish that mimics the veining of natural stone, pairing well with dark metallics, grey walls, exposed concrete and monochrome interiors. The smoked glass has a charcoal tint that reads as dark grey rather than black when unlit, and shifts to a warm amber-grey when the bulb inside is switched on. The frosted inner diffuser is a separate piece that slots inside the outer shade during installation.

The fitting accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the maximum wattage shown in the Specification table. Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb chosen. Pair with a dimmable LED and a trailing-edge dimmer for full control. The entire fitting weighs 1.7kg, fitting standard UK ceiling roses with two-screw fixings.

The fitting takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting in bedrooms or hallways.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. Trailing-edge dimmers work best with LED bulbs. The fitting itself has no built-in dimming circuit. Dimmer compatibility is entirely determined by the bulb you choose.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 340mm drop from ceiling to shade base works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. In lower rooms the shade may feel intrusive, though the semi-flush design avoids the deeper projection of pendant lights on cable drops.

How is the smoked glass shade cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulb to cool fully. Wipe the outer smoked glass with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Avoid sprays or chemical cleaners on the marble-effect canopy as they can dull the finish.
