Description

The Newham is a 667mm table lamp built around a bronze-glazed ceramic base with vertical ribbing that runs from the shoulder to the foot. The base tapers from 162mm at the foot to a narrower neck, where it meets a 350mm pearl satin fabric shade with white PVC lining. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for bedside tables, console tables in entrance halls, and side tables in living rooms, the Newham provides ambient lighting through the diffused shade while the ribbed ceramic base adds sculptural presence. The 350mm shade diameter suits tables with a depth of 400mm or more, and the overall 667mm height works with standard bedside table heights of 500-700mm, positioning the shade approximately at seated eye level when placed next to an armchair.

The bronze glaze on the ceramic base has a metallic sheen that shifts tone depending on ambient light, reading darker in low light and showing warmer bronze tones under direct daylight. The vertical ribbing creates shadow lines that emphasise the form of the base, while the pearl satin shade softens the light output and prevents glare. The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or living room use.

What table depth is needed?

The 350mm shade diameter works best on tables with a depth of 400mm or more, allowing approximately 25mm clearance from the table edge to the shade perimeter. On narrower tables the shade may overhang.

Can the shade be replaced?

The pearl satin shade is a standard drum shade with a duplex fitting. Replacement shades with the same 350mm diameter and duplex fitting are available from lamp shade specialists if the original is damaged.

Is the ceramic base heavy enough to prevent tipping?

The ceramic base provides sufficient weight to stabilise the lamp under normal use. The 162mm base diameter and low centre of gravity make tipping unlikely unless the lamp is knocked hard or the cable is pulled sharply.
