Description

The Newbury is a 334mm outdoor pendant lantern with an aged copper finish, clear bevelled glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The six-sided glass cage sits inside a copper frame built from curved vertical bars that meet at a tiered crown and base, with the whole assembly suspended on a copper chain. The lacquered aged copper finish protects the metal while allowing a natural patina to develop over time.

Designed for covered outdoor areas with an IP23 rating, the Newbury suits front porches, back door canopies, covered patios and gated entrances where the lantern is sheltered from direct rain but exposed to moisture and temperature variation. The 1200mm chain allows the pendant to be set at a drop between 410mm minimum and 1570mm maximum on installation, giving flexibility to suit different ceiling heights and porch configurations. The bevelled glass panels refract the light source into soft prismatic edges around the frame.

The Newbury measures 208mm across and 334mm tall, giving it enough visual weight to anchor a typical 2-2.5m-wide porch without dominating smaller doorways. The aged copper finish coordinates with period brass door furniture, terracotta pots and natural stone surrounds while remaining compatible with more contemporary grey and white-painted exteriors. The E27 fitting accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing choice of warm-white LED for daily use or decorative filament bulbs for events.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

No. The IP23 rating means the lantern is protected against water spray up to 60° from vertical, making it suitable for covered porches, canopies and gated entrances where it has overhead shelter. Fully exposed locations (open patios, garden posts) require IP44 or higher.

What bulb does it take?

The Newbury accepts a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb around 6-8W and 2700K-3000K for traditional porch lighting, or a decorative filament bulb for vintage styling.

Does the copper patina continue to develop over time?

Yes. The lacquered aged copper finish slows oxidation but does not prevent it entirely. Over months and years the copper darkens and develops a richer patina depending on local humidity and air quality. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect.

How is the drop adjusted?

The 1200mm chain is shortened during installation by removing links before fixing the canopy to the ceiling. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the fitting is removed and the chain length altered.
