Description

The Neutrik NL4FXX-W-L is a 4-pole Speakon plug with screw-type terminals and a chuck-type strain relief that accepts cable diameters from 10mm to 16mm. Rated at 37A RMS, the connector uses solid contacts and a twist-lock coupling system that requires a quarter-turn to engage and release, providing a secure connection that will not pull out during transport or performance.

Designed for professional PA installations, touring rigs, and permanent speaker installations where reliable high-current connections are required, the NL4FXX-W-L suits both bi-amped and passive speaker runs. The screw terminals include stranded wire protection sleeves that prevent stray strands from shorting across adjacent poles, and the chuck-type strain relief grips the cable jacket firmly without requiring special crimping tools.

The housing uses a two-component moulded design with a slip-proof outer shell and an internal bushing that provides improved kink protection at the cable entry point. The IP20 rating protects the internal contacts from solid objects larger than 12.5mm but does not provide water ingress protection, so the connector is suitable for indoor and sheltered outdoor use only. The contact resistance is specified at 2 milliohms or less, and the connector is rated for approximately 5,000 mating cycles under normal use.

Specification
Contact resistance ≤ 2 mΩ
Lifetime Typically 5,000 mating cycles
Terminals Screw type
Temperature range -33 °C to +80 °C
IP rating IP20
Cable : dimensions 10-16mm
Frequently Asked

What cable size does this Speakon plug accept?

The NL4FXX-W-L accepts cable outer diameters from 10mm to 16mm via its chuck-type strain relief. Typical speaker cables in the 2.5mm² to 4mm² conductor range fall within this diameter range, though cable jacket thickness varies by manufacturer.

Is this suitable for bi-amped speaker systems?

Yes. The 4-pole configuration allows two separate amplifier channels to be carried on a single cable run — typically 1+/1- for the low-frequency driver and 2+/2- for the high-frequency driver. The 37A RMS rating per pole handles most powered and passive bi-amp applications.

What's the difference between screw terminals and solder terminals?

Screw terminals allow the cable to be stripped, inserted into the terminal block and clamped with a screwdriver, with no soldering required. This makes field assembly and repair faster than solder-cup versions, though some engineers prefer soldered connections for permanent installations.

Can this be used outdoors?

The IP20 rating protects against solid objects but provides no water ingress protection. The connector can be used in sheltered outdoor locations such as under a roof or gazebo, but it should not be exposed to rain, hose-down washing or submersion.
