Description

The Neutrik NL2FXX-W-S is a 2-pole Speakon cable connector with screw-type terminals and a chuck-style strain relief designed for speaker cables between 6-12mm diameter. The connector handles up to 37A RMS on mains-voltage speaker feeds and uses Neutrik's twist-lock latching system to prevent accidental disconnection during live performance or fixed installation use.

Designed for professional audio applications where cable runs terminate at powered speakers, passive cabinets, or amplifier outputs, the NL2FXX mates with both 2-pole and 4-pole Speakon chassis connectors using contacts +1 and -1. The screw terminals accept stranded or solid core cable up to 4mm² and include wire protection inserts that prevent strand damage during tightening. The chuck-type strain relief grips the cable jacket along its circumference rather than pinching from two sides, distributing mechanical stress more evenly and reducing the risk of kinking at the connector body.

The two-component moulded housing combines a hard outer shell with a rubberised grip section, giving a slip-proof surface when connecting or disconnecting under stage lighting or in rack-mounted amplifier bays. The housing carries an IP20 ingress protection rating and operates across -33°C to +80°C, making it suitable for outdoor festival rigs in summer and winter touring applications. The contact resistance is specified at ≤2mΩ and the connector is rated for typically 5,000 mating cycles before mechanical wear becomes measurable.

Specification
Contact resistance ≤ 2 mΩ
Cable : diameter 6-12mm
Lifetime Typically 5,000 mating cycles

Frequently Asked

What cable size does this connector accept?

The NL2FXX accepts speaker cables with an outer jacket diameter between 6mm and 12mm. The screw terminals handle conductor sizes up to 4mm² (approximately 12AWG). The chuck-type strain relief grips the cable jacket, so ensure your cable falls within the 6-12mm range for secure retention.

Will this work with 4-pole Speakon sockets?

Yes. The 2-pole NL2FXX connector mates with both 2-pole and 4-pole Speakon chassis connectors, using contacts +1 and -1. This makes it compatible with most powered speakers and passive cabinets that use Speakon inputs, regardless of whether the socket is 2-pole or 4-pole.

What current rating does it carry?

The NL2FXX is rated at 37A RMS for mains-voltage speaker applications. This is sufficient for high-power amplifier outputs driving passive cabinets or for powered speakers with internal amplifiers rated up to several kilowatts.

How is the cable secured in the connector?

The connector uses a chuck-type strain relief that grips the cable jacket evenly around its circumference when the rear housing is tightened. This distributes mechanical stress better than clamp-style strain reliefs and reduces the risk of kinking. The screw terminals hold the conductors separately.
