Description

The Nasvanne is a traditional outdoor wall light in stainless steel. A swan-neck arm curves over the top to hold a wide brimmed shade above a white opal glass diffuser. It stands 37.5cm high, reaches 32.5cm out from the wall and measures 27cm in diameter, a generous size for a front door or porch. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, which is not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself. It is rated IP44 and protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall or in a garden.

We would put it beside a front door, by the back door, along a porch or on a garden wall, wherever you want a gentle, even glow for finding keys and welcoming guests. Matt opal glass diffuses light softly, so the bulb is hidden from view, and the brim keeps the glow directed downwards rather than into your eyes. Corner mounting is possible, which helps where the best spot is the corner of a wall. With its IP44 rating it may also suit a bathroom, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. The curved arm and brimmed shade give a traditional look that suits a cottage or a period home as well as a newer build.

The body is stainless steel, a material that resists rust, and the shade is matt opal glass in white. There is no switch on the light itself, because it is designed to be switched at the wall. It runs on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 2.017KG, and the installation instructions are available as a download. A wipe with a soft, damp cloth keeps the steel looking its best. Order an E27 bulb at the same time and the light will be ready on the day it is fitted.
