Description

This glass photo frame pairs a clear face with gold edging and a spray of wildflowers, made to hold a favourite photograph of someone special. The opening sits upright in portrait and takes a 6 x 4in print, framed by a gold mount. Beside it, the words 'wonderful NANNA' are printed in dark grey, a flowing script over clean capitals, with a little bee hovering above and a butterfly below. Along the bottom edge runs a meadow of painted-look wildflowers in poppy red, marigold orange, pink and cornflower blue, which climbs into the gold mount at the corner. The frame stands 19cm tall and is just 1cm deep, with a shiny finish that catches the light.

A freestanding frame needs no wall and no nail, so it settles easily on a sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or bookshelf, wherever it will be seen every day. We think it makes a thoughtful Mother's Day gift, ready for a much-loved photograph: a sunny afternoon outdoors, a family celebration or a picture of the two of you together. The wildflower print brings a country meadow feel to any room, and the clear glass lets the wall colour behind it show through, so it sits happily against cream, white or soft green.

The face is glass, edged in gold around both the outer border and the opening, and the back is a black board with a hinged stand that holds the frame upright on a flat surface. To keep it bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and wipe the glass with a slightly damp cloth when it needs more, drying it straight after. Glass deserves a careful hand, so set it back from the edge of a busy shelf. For gifting, pop the photograph in before you wrap it, so the frame is ready to stand the moment it comes out of the paper.
