The Muse is a 52cm table lamp built around a cylindrical base of transparent fluted cast glass, set on a chrome metal platform with a matching chrome stem and topped with a 32cm white cotton drum shade. The glass cylinder features vertical ribs moulded into the surface, creating depth and light refraction when the lamp is switched on. A single E27 bulb inside the glass base (sold separately) casts light upwards through the shade and outwards through the glass walls.

Designed for bedside tables, side tables in living rooms, and desks where both task and decorative light is needed, the Muse works in contemporary, mid-century and transitional interiors. The 32cm diameter footprint suits narrower console tables and nightstands without overwhelming the surface. What bulb does the Muse take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for reading and ambient light. The glass base displays the bulb when lit, so a decorative filament LED works well if the lamp is viewed from multiple angles.

Is the glass base fragile?

The base is cast glass, which is thicker and more durable than blown glass. It can withstand normal handling during bulb changes and cleaning, but it is still glass and will break if dropped or struck hard. The vertical ribbing adds structural strength to the cylinder walls.

Can the shade be replaced?

The white cotton shade uses a standard spider fitting that sits on the chrome stem. Replacement shades with matching dimensions (32cm diameter drum) and the same spider fitting style can be fitted if the original is damaged or if a different colour is preferred.

Is it suitable for a bedside table?

Yes. The 52cm total height positions the shade at a comfortable reading level when placed on a typical 50-60cm bedside table. The combination of upward light through the shade and outward light through the glass base provides enough ambient light for moving around the room at night without being harsh.
