Mona 2 Light Small Wall Light - Natural Brass

The Kichler Mona is a 559mm-tall wall light built around a vertical natural brass stem that holds a central frosted glass cylinder housing two G9 LED bulbs. The brass stem extends above and below the glass shade in a continuous line, giving the fitting a mid-century vertical emphasis. The natural brass finish is uncoated, showing a warm gold tone with subtle surface variation that develops a patina over time.

Designed for bathrooms, hallways and bedrooms where wall space is limited, the Mona projects 98mm from the wall and measures 165mm wide, making it narrow enough to sit either side of a mirror or in a corridor without protruding into traffic paths. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, protecting the electrical components from splashes and moisture. The two 3W G9 LED bulbs (included) produce 3000K warm white light through the frosted glass, which diffuses the output evenly above and below the fitting.

The glass cylinder is held between two brass bands at the top and bottom edges, creating a clean break between the metal stem and the translucent shade. The vertical orientation directs light upwards and downwards onto adjacent wall surfaces, which reflects back into the room as ambient fill rather than direct glare. The brass develops a natural patina with exposure to humidity and air, shifting from the initial bright gold towards a deeper, more muted tone — a characteristic of untreated brass finishes in bathrooms and kitchens.

Can the Mona be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, which covers positions outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure but within 60cm horizontally of a basin or bath edge. The IP44 rating protects against splashes and moisture but does not make the fitting fully submersible or suitable for zone 1 (inside a shower cubicle).

Are the LED bulbs replaceable?

Yes. The fitting uses standard G9 capsule LED bulbs, which can be replaced when they reach end of life. The included bulbs are 3W 3000K LEDs. Replacement G9 LEDs are widely available and the glass shade lifts away from the brass bands for bulb access.

Does the brass tarnish over time?

Natural brass is an uncoated metal finish that develops a patina with exposure to air and humidity. The initial bright gold tone will gradually deepen and may show darker spots or a more muted surface over months and years, especially in bathrooms. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect. If a consistent bright finish is preferred, the brass can be periodically polished with a brass cleaner.

What is the light output direction?

The frosted glass cylinder diffuses light both upwards and downwards along the wall surface. There is minimal direct forward projection — most of the light washes the wall above and below the fitting, which then reflects back into the room as ambient fill. This makes the Mona more suited to ambient or decorative roles than task lighting.
