Description

The Mioglia is a cluster pendant of eighteen globe shades, each hanging on its own fine drop at a different height, so together they gather into a cascade that narrows towards a single globe at the base. The body is steel in a bright chrome finish. Each globe pairs a polished chrome top with a clear plastic lower half filled with white granules that catch the light and sparkle. It stands 200cm tall overall and measures 81cm across, hanging from a large round ceiling plate. The light source is integrated LED, 18 x 3.15W giving 460lm per light, in a warm white 3000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

That IP20 rating keeps it to dry rooms, and its size suits a generous space: a stairwell, a tall hallway, a large living room or the space above a long dining table. With eighteen lights at 460lm each, one pendant fills the centre of a room where you might otherwise hang several smaller ones. Because it is dimmable, you can run it bright when the room is busy and bring it down to a gentle glow for a late supper. The warm white 3000K suits living and dining spaces, keeping the chrome and the sparkling shades looking warm rather than clinical.

Because the LEDs are integrated, there are no bulbs to buy or change, though the LEDs are not replaceable. There is no switch on the fitting itself; it is switched at the wall. It runs at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and weighs 18.41KG packed, so it is worth having a second pair of hands when you unbox it. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Before you order, measure the height of your ceiling so the lowest globe sits where you want it.
