Description

The Knightsbridge M6300F is a 13A switched fused spur unit with a flex outlet, housed in a powder-coated steel metal clad enclosure. The unit combines a fused isolator switch with a cable exit point in a single weatherproof box, allowing fixed wiring to be connected to equipment that has a flex tail rather than a plug.

Designed for garages, workshops, outdoor installations and utility areas where a standard socket would be unsuitable, the metal clad construction provides impact resistance and durability beyond plastic faceplates. The 20mm flex outlet grommet at the base of the unit accepts cable glands or grommets for sealing the cable entry, maintaining the IP20 rating of the enclosure. The red rocker switch clearly indicates when the circuit is isolated.

The unit is supplied complete with a galvanised steel back box and powder-coated faceplate in a satin silver finish. The 82mm square footprint and 45mm projection suit surface mounting on brick, blockwork or timber stud walls. The steel construction earths via the back box mounting and the unit carries a dedicated earth terminal for bonding the supply cable and the outgoing flex.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a switched, fused connection point for fixed equipment like boilers, extractor fans, water heaters and garage machinery. The unit isolates the downstream circuit and protects it with a 13A fuse, while the flex outlet allows cable to exit the enclosure through a sealed grommet rather than requiring a plug-and-socket connection.

Can this be installed outdoors?

The IP20 rating makes the unit suitable for dry indoor locations and sheltered outdoor positions such as covered garages and carports. For fully exposed outdoor use, a higher IP-rated enclosure would be required.

Is the back box included?

Yes. The unit is supplied complete with a galvanised steel back box for surface mounting. No separate purchase is needed.

What size flex can exit through the outlet?

The 20mm flex outlet accepts cable glands or grommets sized for typical appliance flex (1.5mm² to 2.5mm² cable). The specific gland or grommet should be selected based on the outer diameter of the cable being used.
