What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?

A fused spur provides a permanent fixed connection for an appliance, isolating it from the ring main with its own fuse. Unlike a socket, it's not designed for plug-in/plug-out use — the appliance cable is wired directly into the terminals. This suits appliances that stay connected permanently, like boilers or kitchen extractors.

Does this include the back box?

Yes. The M6300 is supplied complete with an integrated metal back box, allowing surface mounting directly onto walls without needing a separate flush box. The total projection from the wall once installed is 45mm.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for indoor dry locations only. For outdoor or damp environments, an IP-rated weatherproof enclosure or a higher-rated spur unit is required.

What size fuse does it take?

The unit accepts standard BS 1362 cartridge fuses rated up to 13A. The fuse is user-replaceable and should be matched to the appliance load — most appliances under 3kW use a 13A fuse, while lower-power devices may use 5A or 3A fuses.
