Description

The Knightsbridge M6300 is a metal clad 13A switched fused spur unit built from premium-grade steel with a durable powder-coated grey finish. The unit includes an integrated back box, meaning it can be surface-mounted directly onto masonry, plasterboard or timber without needing a separate flush box. The front plate carries a single switch and a red neon indicator that illuminates when the spur is live.

Designed for fixed appliance connection in utility rooms, garages, kitchens and commercial spaces, the fused spur isolates an appliance circuit from the ring main and protects it with a replaceable 13A fuse. Common applications include connection points for boilers, extractor fans, immersion heaters, under-counter freezers and outdoor lighting circuits. The surface-mount design makes retrofitting straightforward where chasing into walls for flush mounting is impractical or where regulations require accessible isolation.

The steel construction and IP20 rating suit indoor dry environments. The powder-coated finish resists scratching and corrosion better than painted mild steel, and the 82mm square faceplate with rounded corners sits 45mm proud of the mounting surface when installed. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year warranty, reflecting Knightsbridge's confidence in the build quality of their metal clad range.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?

A fused spur provides a permanent fixed connection for an appliance, isolating it from the ring main with its own fuse. Unlike a socket, it's not designed for plug-in/plug-out use — the appliance cable is wired directly into the terminals. This suits appliances that stay connected permanently, like boilers or kitchen extractors.

Does this include the back box?

Yes. The M6300 is supplied complete with an integrated metal back box, allowing surface mounting directly onto walls without needing a separate flush box. The total projection from the wall once installed is 45mm.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for indoor dry locations only. For outdoor or damp environments, an IP-rated weatherproof enclosure or a higher-rated spur unit is required.

What size fuse does it take?

The unit accepts standard BS 1362 cartridge fuses rated up to 13A. The fuse is user-replaceable and should be matched to the appliance load — most appliances under 3kW use a 13A fuse, while lower-power devices may use 5A or 3A fuses.
