Messina 5 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Gold

The Messina is a 57cm diameter semi-flush ceiling light built around a cylindrical natural linen shade wrapped in a geometric gold metal frame. The frame forms repeating hexagonal and trapezoidal patterns that run continuously around the shade, creating a three-dimensional lattice effect when viewed from below. Five E27 bulb holders sit inside the shade behind a frosted diffuser plate at the base, casting light down through the diffuser and outward through the linen weave.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.8m, the Messina provides ambient lighting for dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and living rooms where a full pendant drop would sit too low but a flush-mount feels under-scaled. The 19cm projection from ceiling to diffuser base allows clearance for door openings and circulation zones while keeping the fitting visually present. The five-bulb configuration spreads light across a 4-5m room diameter when fitted with standard warm-white E27 LEDs between 6-10W each.

The gold finish on the metal frame sits between polished and brushed — it catches light without creating harsh reflections, and the tone reads warmer than brass or bronze. The natural linen shade is a cream-beige colour with visible weave texture that softens the light passing through it. The combination of gold metalwork, linen diffusion and geometric patterning pairs with traditional, transitional and modern interiors where warmth and texture are valued over minimalism.

The frosted diffuser plate at the base prevents direct bulb glare when walking underneath the fitting and distributes light evenly across the lower hemisphere. What ceiling height does this suit?

The 19cm projection works best in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.8m. In lower ceilings the fitting may feel dominant; in higher ceilings a pendant with adjustable drop would give better scale.

What bulbs does it take?

The Messina takes five E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The natural linen shade can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuum attachment on low power. For marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water may be used, but avoid soaking the fabric. The gold metal frame can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs fitted. If you fit dimmable E27 LED bulbs and pair them with a trailing-edge dimmer designed for LED loads, the fitting will dim. Mains-voltage halogen or filament bulbs will dim on standard dimmers.
