Description

This Mercury battery tester gives you a quick way to check the charge status of most household batteries. It measures each battery under load, so the reading reflects how the cell performs when it is actually working rather than just showing a resting voltage. That gives you a more accurate picture of whether a battery still has useful life left in it.

The analogue display uses a needle across a colour-coded scale, which makes the result easy to read at a glance. Green shows the battery is good, yellow means it is running low, and red tells you it needs replacing or recharging. There are no numbers to interpret and no screen to power, so you can pick it up and use it straight away.

It handles the common sizes you are likely to have around the house, including AA, AAA, C, D and 9V PP3 batteries, along with button cells (known as coin cells in the US). The unit is compact at 110 x 61 x 26mm and weighs just 48g, so it fits easily in a drawer or toolbox. Keeping one to hand means you can sort working batteries from flat ones instead of guessing, which helps cut down on waste and stops you throwing out cells that still have charge in them.
