Description

The Mercury TSL01 is a digital sound level meter (also called a decibel meter) for measuring noise levels across a wide range of settings. It reads from 30dB to 130dB with an accuracy of ±1.5dB, covering everything from quiet office spaces to loud industrial areas. The frequency range runs from 31.5Hz to 8.5kHz, and readings are shown in 0.1dB steps on a 4-digit LCD screen. It complies with the EN61326-1:2013 standard.

Inside is a 12.5mm diameter electret condenser microphone. You can switch between fast (125ms) and slow (1 second) response times, and choose A- or C-weighting depending on the type of noise you're assessing. A-weighting matches how the human ear responds to sound, while C-weighting captures more low-frequency content. Maximum and data hold functions let you capture peak readings or freeze a value on screen while you note it down.

This makes the TSL01 a practical tool for offices, industrial environments, airports and public buildings where you need to check or record noise levels. It runs on 4 x AA batteries, which are included, and weighs 308g with them fitted. The unit measures 256 x 70 x 35mm and arrives in a heavy duty plastic case with a windshield to reduce interference from moving air outdoors. It operates in temperatures from 0 to 40°C at 10-80% humidity.

Frequently Asked

What noise range can the TSL01 measure?

It measures from 30dB to 130dB, with a stated accuracy of ±1.5dB and a resolution of 0.1dB.

What is the difference between A- and C-weighting?

A-weighting reflects how the human ear responds to sound and is common for general noise assessment. C-weighting captures more low-frequency content. The TSL01 offers both.

What do the fast and slow settings do?

Fast (125ms) reacts quickly to short bursts of noise, while slow (1 second) averages the reading over a longer period for a steadier value on the display.

Does it come with everything needed to start?

Yes. It ships with 4 x AA batteries, a windshield and a heavy duty plastic case, so you can use it straight away.

Can I hold a reading on the screen?

Yes. The meter has data hold to freeze the current value and a maximum function to capture peak levels during measurement.

What are its operating conditions?

It works in temperatures from 0 to 40°C at 10-80% humidity. Storage is rated from -10 to 60°C at 10-70% humidity.
