Description

This Mercury crimping tool handles the full job of terminating network cable, from cutting and stripping through to crimping RJ45 connectors onto the cable ends. It works with CAT5, CAT5E, CAT6 and CAT7 cable and takes the standard RJ-45 (8P8C) connector, so it covers the connectors you are most likely to meet when making up or repairing network leads.

The ratchet action is the part that makes it worth reaching for. The tool only releases once the handles have been fully squeezed together, which means there is no loss of pressure partway through and you get a uniform crimp every time. That takes the guesswork out of terminating cable, whether you are wiring a home office point or making up a batch of patch leads. The vinyl handle grips give a comfortable hold across repeated use.

At 185mm long and 212g, it is light, compact and easy to keep in a tool bag. The body is durable enough for regular work without being bulky. If you look after your own cabling or make up custom lengths, this covers the three main tasks in one tool: strip the outer jacket, trim the conductors to length and crimp the connector home.
