Description

This Mercury lead-free solder gives you a reliable way to make strong, conductive joints for electronics and electrical work. The 1.0mm diameter wire comes on a 7.5m reel weighing 50g, which is a handy amount for maintenance jobs and repairs around the workshop or home.

The alloy is made from 99.3% tin (Sn) and 0.7% copper (Cu), with a flux content of 2.2% built into the wire. That flux helps the solder flow cleanly and bond well without needing a separate application. The melting point sits at 227°C, so you get a solid joint once it cools and sets. Because it is lead-free, it suits work where you want to avoid lead for safety or compliance reasons.

We find this solder works well for restoring free electrical flow to connectors and tidying up worn or broken joints. The result is a conductible, virtually permanent join that holds up over time. Whether you are fixing a loose contact or building something from scratch, the 1.0mm gauge is a good middle ground that handles most general soldering tasks. Keep the reel dry and it will stay ready for the next job.

Frequently Asked

What is this solder made from?

It is a lead-free alloy of 99.3% tin (Sn) and 0.7% copper (Cu), with 2.2% flux built into the wire.

What is the melting point?

The melting point is 227°C, so you will need a soldering iron that reaches a suitable working temperature above this.

How much solder is on the reel?

Each reel holds 50g of 1.0mm diameter solder, which works out to around 7.5m of wire.

Do I need separate flux?

No. The wire has a flux core at 2.2%, so the flux is released as you solder. Extra flux is not usually needed for general work.

What is it good for?

It suits maintenance and repairs to connectors, restoring free electrical flow, as well as general electronics and electrical soldering.

Is this solder lead-free?

Yes. It contains no lead, which makes it a good choice where you want to avoid lead for safety or compliance.
