Description

The Mercury IMS2500-12 is a modified sine wave inverter that powers 230Vac mains equipment from a 12V battery or DC supply. It gives you a way to run everyday appliances away from the grid, whether you are camping, working from a commercial van or lorry, or keeping essentials going during a blackout. With an output of 2500W and over 85% efficiency, it handles items such as TVs, lighting, fans and kettles.

Soft start helps the inverter cope with large inductive loads, reducing the chance of a shutdown when a device draws extra current as it powers up. There is a built in 2.1A USB socket for charging phones and small devices directly, plus an LED and audible fault indicator so you know at a glance if something needs attention. Protection covers low and over voltage input, short circuit, overload and overheat, which helps guard both the inverter and whatever is connected to it.

The unit is supplied with two pairs of 800mm DC power cables and a spare blade fuse. For voltage sensitive devices, audio equipment or heavily inductive loads, a pure sine wave inverter is the better choice. To avoid damage from current surges, we recommend choosing an inverter rated for at least three times the power of the device you plan to run, so keep your appliance well within the 2500W rating. Both 12V and 24V input versions are made, so check you have selected the correct one for your power source.

Frequently Asked

What input voltage does the IMS2500-12 need?

This version runs from a 12V DC source such as a battery or power supply. A 24V version is also available, so make sure you pick the one that matches your input power.

Can I run audio equipment from this inverter?

We do not recommend it. For audio equipment, voltage sensitive devices or heavily inductive loads, a pure sine wave inverter is more suitable and less likely to cause interference or damage.

How much power can it supply?

It is rated at 2500W output at 230Vac, 50Hz. We advise choosing an inverter capable of at least three times a device's rated power to allow for current surges.

Does it have a USB charging socket?

Yes, there is a built in 2.1A USB socket, which is handy for charging phones and other small devices without needing a separate adapter.

What is included in the box?

The inverter comes with two pairs of 800mm DC power cables and a spare blade fuse.

What protection features are built in?

It includes low and over voltage input protection, along with short circuit, overload and overheat protection. An LED and audible indicator alert you to any fault.
