Description

The Mercury IMS150-12 is a modified sine wave inverter that runs 230V mains equipment from a 12V battery or DC power supply. It gives you a 230Vac, 50Hz output, so you can power everyday appliances like TVs, lighting, fans and kettles when you're away from the grid. It's a handy option for camping, commercial vans and lorries, or as back-up power in the event of a blackout, letting you make use of a charged battery when mains power isn't available.

This model puts out 150W and runs at over 85% efficiency, so less of your battery charge is wasted as heat. A soft start feature helps reduce the chance of the inverter shutting down when you switch on larger inductive loads. There's a built-in 2.1A USB socket for charging phones and other small devices directly, plus an LED and audible fault indicator that lets you know if something isn't right. Protection is built in for low and over voltage input, short circuit, overload and overheating.

The unit is supplied with a pair of 800mm DC power cables and a spare blade fuse. When choosing a rating, make sure your device sits well within the inverter's output. We suggest picking an inverter that can supply at least three times the rated power of your device, which helps avoid damage from any current surge at start-up. For voltage sensitive devices, audio equipment or heavier inductive loads, a pure sine wave inverter is the better choice. This inverter comes in 12V and 24V input versions, so check you've selected the right one for your power source.
