The Mercury IC678 is a universal in-car DC to DC adaptor that plugs straight into a car cigarette lighter socket, giving you a regulated power supply for a range of low power electronics on the move. It takes a 12 to 24Vdc input and lets you choose the output you need using a rotary voltage selector switch, so one adaptor covers a lot of different devices. Output current is rated at up to 2000mA, which suits things like CD players, radios, personal cassette players, portable games consoles and MP3 players.

Six interchangeable DC jack plugs come in the box, so you can match the connector to your kit without hunting for extra parts. The included tips are 1.3 x 3.5mm, 2.1 x 5mm, 2.5 x 5.5mm, 1.5 x 5.5mm, plus 2.5 and 3.5mm jacks. Selectable output voltages are 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 and 12Vdc, and note that the 12Vdc 2000mA setting is only available when running from a 24V input. The regulation keeps a constant DC output feeding your appliance, which helps devices run steadily rather than dropping out.

Built-in protection covers short circuit, overload and thermal conditions, so the adaptor guards both itself and the device it powers if something goes wrong.
