Description

The Mercury CHR004 is a compact charger built for 2V, 6V and 12V lead acid batteries. You pick the output voltage using a slide switch on the front of the unit, so a single charger covers a range of common battery sizes. It runs on a wide input range of AC100-240V at 50/60Hz, which makes it suitable for use in the UK and abroad.

The charger comes with a fixed 1.8m flylead ending in a pair of crocodile clips, so you can clamp straight onto your battery terminals without extra leads or adaptors. Two LEDs sit on the front to keep you informed: a green LED shows charging, while a red LED flags a polarity problem. A built-in poly-switch adds over-current protection and polarity reverse protection, helping to guard the battery against damage while it charges.

With a maximum output of 600mA, the CHR004 is a steady charger for smaller lead acid batteries rather than a fast bulk charger. The unit measures 82 x 56 x 80mm and weighs just 125g, so it takes up little space on a bench or in a toolbox. Note that batteries are not included. This is a practical choice for keeping motorcycle, alarm, mobility and other small sealed lead acid batteries topped up and ready to use.
