Description

This Mercury UV torch uses 9 bright LEDs to help you check bank notes, documents and other items for security features. It works with both old and new UK bank notes, letting you spot fluorescent markings and security codes that show up under ultraviolet light. If you handle cash regularly, it gives you a quick way to identify counterfeit notes on the counter or on the move.

The body is made from heavy duty aluminium, so it stands up to daily handling while staying light at just 75g. At 101 x 34 x 27mm it slips easily into a pocket, drawer or till, and a wrist strap comes supplied to keep it to hand. The 365nm ultraviolet wavelength also helps reveal fluorescent agents used in security printing and marking, making it useful beyond note checking.

Power comes from 3 x AAA batteries, which are not included, and you get around 8 hours of runtime from a set. Beyond bank notes, the torch (US: flashlight) works well for checking passports, cheques, ID cards and anything marked with UV-reactive ink or invisible security pens. It is a simple, portable tool for shops, market stalls, bars and home use where you need a reliable way to verify what is real.
