Description

The Mercury 2WDP002 is a wireless door phone (or video doorphone/intercom) that lets you speak to visitors before you open the door. Because there are no wires needed between the outdoor and indoor units, it is quick to fit and easy to set up. The outdoor unit mounts by your entrance, the indoor unit sits wherever suits you inside, and the two communicate over a 433 MHz wireless link with a range of up to 300m in an open area.

Both parts come ready to use in the box. You get two power supplies, mounting brackets and fixing kits, so there is little to buy separately. The indoor unit runs from a DC5V USB Type-C supply, while the outdoor unit takes a standard mains input (AC100-240V) and outputs DC12V. The outdoor unit carries an IP44 rating, so it copes with rain and splashes at the door, and it can also be wired to an electronic door lock (not supplied) using the door release button on the indoor unit.

For everyday use you can pick from 8 ringtones and set 3 volume levels, so the call tone can be as loud or quiet as your home needs. The indoor unit measures 210 x 68 x 58mm and weighs 240g; the outdoor unit is 158 x 62 x 51mm including the shade and weighs 172g. Low standby current keeps power draw down on the outdoor unit between calls. It is a straightforward way to answer the door without running cable through walls.

Do I need to run wires between the two units?

No. The outdoor and indoor units talk to each other wirelessly at 433 MHz, so no cabling is required between them. Each unit does need its own power supply, and both are included.

What is the wireless range?

Up to 300m in an open area. Walls, floors and other obstructions will reduce this in practice, so position the units with as clear a path between them as you can.

Can it release an electronic door lock?

Yes. The outdoor unit can be connected to an electronic door lock, which you operate using the door release button on the indoor unit. The lock itself is not supplied.

Is the outdoor unit weatherproof?

The outdoor unit is rated IP44, so it stands up to rain and splashing at your entrance. The IP44 rating applies to the outdoor unit only.

How is each unit powered?

The indoor unit runs from DC5V via USB Type-C. The outdoor unit takes a mains input of AC100-240V 50/60Hz with a DC12V 1A output. Both power supplies are included.

Can I change the ringtone and volume?

Yes. There are 8 ringtones to choose from and 3 adjustable volume levels, so you can set a call tone that suits your home.
