Description

This wooden keepsake box is made to hold the cards, notes and small treasures of a wedding day, finished in soft ivory with a gentle, romantic look. The lid reads 'Wedding keepsakes', the first word in tall capitals and the second in a flowing script, while the front carries a short verse: 'Once in a while, Right in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairy tale.' A scatter of tiny grey hearts drifts down from the top edge, and blush pink trim set with round studs runs along the edges, giving it the look of a little vintage travelling case. It is a generous medium size, standing 17cm high, 28.5cm wide and 21.5cm deep.

It belongs wherever you keep the things you never want to lose: a dressing table, a bedroom shelf or the top of a wardrobe, where it looks just as pretty closed as open. Inside there is room for the invitation, the order of service, cards from guests, a pressed flower from the bouquet and a handful of favourite photographs, so the memories of the day stay together rather than scattered through drawers. As a wedding gift it is a thoughtful one, a place to gather everything from the celebration once the confetti has settled.

The lid lifts on hinges and fastens at the front with a silver-tone clasp, and the base and the inside of the lid are lined in dark grey, which sets off cards and photographs nicely. Look after it as you would any wooden box: dust it with a soft dry cloth, wipe a mark from the outside with a barely damp cloth, and keep it somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight. If you are giving it, we like to slip a copy of the wedding invitation inside first, so the box arrives already holding its first keepsake.
