Description

This ceramic planter takes the shape of a round, contented capybara, sitting up with a little orange tangerine balanced on top of its head. It is glazed a glossy caramel brown, with a deeper brown snout, small rounded ears, tiny front paws held at its sides and a pair of rosy cheeks that give it a quietly pleased expression. The opening sits behind its head, across the capybara's back, and the inside is a soft cream. It measures 14cm tall, 16.5cm wide and 11.5cm deep, a medium size that brings plenty of character to a shelf without crowding it.

Its compact size suits the spots where a small plant brings the most cheer: a desk, a bookshelf, a bedside table or a sunny kitchen windowsill. Settle a small houseplant inside and the leaves rise from the capybara's back, as if it were carrying its own little patch of garden around. The warm brown sits comfortably with natural wood, white walls and soft neutral rooms, while the orange tangerine adds a bright note that catches the eye. We think it is a happy choice wherever a room could use a touch of fun.

The planter is made from ceramic and finished in a smooth, shiny glaze, with the tangerine, ears, paws and snout all raised in relief rather than painted flat, so the little details catch the light. It sits flat and steady on its base, with four small feet modelled at the front and back. To keep it looking its best, wipe the outside with a damp cloth and dry it with a soft one, and handle the tangerine and ears with care, as you would any ceramic piece. Add a small plant and a ribbon and it makes a ready-made gift that is sure to raise a smile.

What is the planter made from?

It is made from ceramic and finished in a smooth, glossy glaze, with the tangerine, ears, paws and snout raised in relief.
