Description

This medium ceramic shell bowl planter takes its cue from a scallop shell, with softly fluted ridges fanning out from a low, rounded base. The white glaze has a gentle sheen that catches the light and picks out the sculptural lines of the form. At 10cm high, 28cm wide and 21cm deep, it sits low and broad, giving you a generous opening to work with while keeping a shallow, table-friendly footprint.

The wide, open mouth of this planter suits trailing succulents, a cluster of small potted herbs or a low arrangement of moss and stones. It works beautifully as a centrepiece on a dining table or coffee table, and its shape reads well on a wide windowsill or console. The clean white finish sits happily against natural wood, painted shelving or a neutral scheme, and pairs neatly with other white or stoneware pieces from across our range. Because the bowl is shallow, we suggest low-growing or compact plants rather than anything tall and top-heavy.

The ceramic body is easy to keep in good order. There is no pre-drilled drainage hole, so we recommend using a plastic liner or a slim inner pot for living plants, which lets you water away from the bowl and lift the plant out when needed. Wipe the glazed surface with a soft, damp cloth to clear dust and water marks, and avoid harsh scourers that could dull the finish. Kept indoors and out of frost, these planters hold their colour and look for years.

Frequently Asked

What is this planter made from?

It is made from glazed ceramic with a smooth white finish and a fluted, shell-inspired shape that gives it a solid, well-weighted feel.

Does it have a drainage hole?

No, the base is solid, so it suits a liner or an inner pot. This keeps water contained and makes it simple to lift plants in and out.

What plants work best in it?

Its shallow, wide shape favours low, spreading plants such as succulents, small herbs or trailing greenery rather than tall specimens.

Where should I place it?

It works as a low centrepiece on a table, a windowsill or a console, and pairs well with wood, neutral tones and other white pieces.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the glazed surface with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive scourers so the finish stays clear and bright.
