Mediterraneo 2 Light Glass Floor Lamp - Chrome

The Mediterraneo is a 1620mm floor lamp built around a frosted glass shade with wave-like horizontal contours, mounted on a polished chrome stem and circular base. The shade houses two E27 bulb fittings positioned vertically inside the glass, which diffuses light outwards through the layered frosted surface. The wave pattern creates subtle shadow lines when lit, turning the shade into both light source and sculptural object.

Designed for living rooms, lounges and bedrooms where ambient rather than task lighting is needed, the Mediterraneo suits corners, spaces beside sofas, and positions where a floor lamp provides the primary light source for a seating area. The 370mm diameter shade offers enough light spread to cover a 3-4m square area without needing a ceiling fitting. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the supply circuit.

The frosted glass shade is formed from multiple horizontal bands that overlap to create the wave effect, with each band catching and diffusing light differently depending on viewing angle. The polished chrome stem and base provide a reflective contrast against the matt glass and add enough weight (12kg total) to keep the lamp stable on carpets and rugs without tipping. The chrome finish pairs with both warm-toned and cool-toned interiors, acting as a neutral metallic that doesn't push colour temperature in either direction.

The 1620mm height places the shade at a level that lights a room from above seated eye line. Bulbs are sold separately, and the lamp accepts standard E27 LED, halogen or filament types.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Mediterraneo takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. We suggest pairing this with 6-10W warm-white LED bulbs at 2700K-3000K for ambient living room lighting. Maximum wattage per bulb depends on the bulb type but typical LED bulbs are safe.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E27 bulbs and connected to a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the supply circuit. The lamp itself has no built-in dimmer switch, so dimming is controlled at the wall switch or via a plug-in dimmer module.

How is the glass shade cleaned?

The frosted glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner. The wave contours create recesses where dust settles, so a soft brush or dry cloth works better than spraying directly onto the shade. Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool before cleaning.

Is the 12kg weight stable on rugs?

Yes. The circular chrome base distributes the 12kg weight evenly and prevents tipping on most rugs and carpets. On very thick or shag rugs, position the lamp where the base sits flat rather than at an angle across pile direction.
