Description
The Meca is a 1600mm linear LED suspension light built around a 28mm-diameter matt black aluminium bar housing an integrated 35W LED module. The LED runs the full length of the bar, emitting 3200 lumens of 4000K cool white light through a diffuser panel on the underside. The narrow 36° beam angle concentrates the light downwards rather than spilling it sideways, making the Meca function as task lighting over surfaces rather than general ambient lighting.
Designed for installation above kitchen islands, dining tables, study desks and commercial counter areas, the Meca provides direct downlight for food preparation, paperwork and visual tasks where clarity matters. The 1600mm length suits surfaces between 1400-1800mm wide, with the light positioned centrally. The adjustable drop ranges from 60mm minimum to 2060mm maximum, allowing the fitting to be set 700-800mm above a worktop or dining table depending on ceiling height. The matt black canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses.
The 4000K colour temperature produces a cooler, sharper light than the 2700-3000K warm white common in domestic lighting, making it closer in tone to office and retail lighting. This suits commercial-style interiors, monochrome colour schemes and spaces where accurate colour rendering matters more than warmth. The matt black finish absorbs rather than reflects ambient light, allowing the bar to recede visually when unlit. At 1.5kg the fitting has sufficient mass to hang stably on adjustable cables without swaying under air movement.

Frequently Asked
Is the Meca dimmable?
No. The integrated LED is non-dimmable. If dimming is required, consider an alternative fitting with dimmable driver compatibility.
What is 4000K light and how does it differ from warm white?
4000K is classified as cool white, producing a sharper, more neutral light than the 2700-3000K warm white typical in homes. It suits task lighting, commercial interiors and spaces where accurate colour rendering matters. If you prefer a warmer tone for dining or living areas, consider the 3000K version of this fitting if available.
What ceiling height is needed?
The drop is adjustable from 60mm to 2060mm. For a kitchen island or dining table, the light typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Meca if the cables are shortened during installation.
What surface length does the 1600mm fitting suit?
The 1600mm length works best above surfaces between 1400-1800mm wide, such as a medium-sized kitchen island or a six-seater dining table. For longer surfaces, consider positioning two Meca fittings in sequence or selecting a longer linear model.
