Marinello 1 LED Flush Ceiling Light - Black & Brown

The Marinello 1 is an LED flush ceiling light made of four slim black bars laid across one another in a crosshatch, set over a square plate of natural wood. The body combines aluminium, steel and wood, pairing a black frame with a warm brown grain, and each bar carries a white plastic diffuser on its underside. It is 50cm long and 50cm wide and only 9cm high, so it holds close to the ceiling. The LEDs are integrated, four lights at 5.3W each, and the IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Because it sits so flat, the Marinello suits rooms where a pendant would crowd the space, such as a living room, a bedroom, a hallway or a study. Each of the four lights gives 700 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that feels relaxed in the evening and clear enough for reading or tidying. The wood plate softens the graphic black lines, so it sits comfortably in a Scandinavian or Japandi scheme and alongside natural wood furniture. Spread along four bars, the light comes from a wider area than a single bulb, which helps soften shadows across the room.

Two short black posts hold the crossed bars clear of the wood plate, so the bars seem to float just beneath it and the grain stays visible between them. The light is not dimmable and has no switch of its own; it is switched at the wall, like most ceiling lights. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. The packed weight is 1.287KG. Because the output is fixed, a table lamp or two will give you a softer setting for late evenings, while the Marinello takes care of the main light.

Can the Marinello go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for indoor rooms that stay dry, so we would keep it away from water and out of bathrooms.

Is the Marinello dimmable?

No, it is not dimmable. It has no switch of its own and is switched at the wall, giving a fixed level of light.

How bright is the Marinello?

It has four integrated LED lights at 5.3W each, and each light gives 700 lumens in a warm white of 3000K.

How much space does it need on the ceiling?

It is 50cm long and 50cm wide and only 9cm high, so it suits rooms where a hanging light would sit too low.

Does it need a bulb?

No separate bulb is needed, because the light source is integrated LED, built into each of the four bars.

Which materials does the Marinello use?

The body combines aluminium, steel and wood in black and brown, and the diffusers along each bar are white plastic.
