Description

The Marcono is a 200mm travertine pendant light built around a layered dome shade carved from natural travertine, with an opal glass globe suspended beneath it. The shade combines a broad outer dome with a raised central collar at the top, giving the fitting a stepped two-tier profile. A G9 lamp socket sits inside the dome, hidden by the shade and diffused through the frosted glass globe below.

The pendant suits dining tables, kitchen islands, breakfast bars and bedside positions over a console or nightstand. The compact 200mm shade diameter makes it well-suited to clusters of two or three over a longer island, or as a single fitting above a side table. With a 120mm shade height plus the opal globe drop, the Marcono works comfortably in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m and above, with the cord adjusted to set the globe 700-800mm above a table surface.

Travertine is a sedimentary stone with characteristic surface porosity, and each Marcono shade shows different speckling, pitting and tonal variation depending on the section of stone it was cut from. The light beige tone reads as a warm neutral, pairing with oak, walnut, terracotta and off-white interiors. The matte stone finish keeps the sculptural shape of the dome legible without surface reflections, while the opal glass softens the G9 light into a diffused glow rather than a point source.

The pendant uses a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. A 3-4W LED G9 in 2700K-3000K warm white pairs well with the opal glass globe and the warm beige tone of the travertine.

Is each travertine shade different?

Yes. Travertine is a natural sedimentary stone, so the speckling, pitting and tonal variation differ between individual shades. This is a feature of the material, not a defect, and means no two Marcono pendants look identical.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The shade itself is 120mm tall plus the opal glass globe and adjustable cord drop. The pendant works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. Over a dining table or kitchen island, set the globe roughly 700-800mm above the surface by adjusting the cord at installation.

How is travertine cleaned?

Travertine is porous. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid household sprays, polishes and abrasive cleaners, which can stain or damage the stone surface. For marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately.
