Description

The Mara is a 78cm-diameter five-light chandelier built on a French gold-finished frame with curved scrollwork arms, each supporting a pleated ivory white fabric shade. The five E14 bulbs sit inside the shades, which diffuse the light while the gold metalwork remains visible as the decorative structure. The central column tapers upwards to a matching French gold ceiling canopy, with an adjustable chain allowing drop heights between 650mm and 2500mm.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and formal living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Mara provides ambient light across a 3-4m table or 16-20m² room. The 780mm diameter works best where the chandelier can hang 700-900mm above a dining surface or 2.1-2.3m above floor level in an entrance space. The adjustable chain conceals the cable run and allows the drop to be set during installation to suit the specific ceiling height and room proportion.

The French gold finish is a warmer, softer tone than polished brass, sitting between antique brass and champagne gold with a low-sheen surface that reduces glare under both daylight and artificial light. Each pleated shade is stitched fabric over a wire frame, creating vertical ribbing that adds texture when lit. The scrollwork arms curve outward and downward from the central column, giving the chandelier a symmetrical profile from all viewing angles. At 4kg, the fitting requires a ceiling joist or properly rated ceiling rose capable of supporting the weight plus the additional pull from the chain when adjusting drop height.

No. The chandelier takes five E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most buyers pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient dining room lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable E14 bulbs and pair the fitting with a compatible LED dimmer switch. The chandelier itself has no electronics that would prevent dimming.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 650mm minimum drop plus the 780mm diameter means the lowest point of the chandelier sits approximately 650mm below the ceiling canopy. For safe head clearance above a dining table, ceiling heights of 2.7m or above work best. The chain is adjustable up to 2500mm for higher ceilings.

How are the shades cleaned?

The pleated fabric shades attract dust over time. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner set to low power, or a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid water or cleaning sprays, which can stain the fabric.
