Description

The Mara is a 4 light chandelier built around two curved chrome arms that cross at the centre column and extend 1150mm horizontally, each arm holding two ivory white pleated fabric shades. The polished chrome frame forms a flowing X-shape when viewed head-on, with the arms curving outward and upward from the central stem. Four E14 bulbs sit beneath the shades (sold separately), casting light downward through the fabric while the reflective chrome bounces indirect light off the ceiling.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and hallway positions with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.2m, the Mara's 1150mm arm span suits rooms 3.5m wide or larger without crowding doorways or circulation space. The adjustable drop ranges from 650mm minimum to 2500mm maximum on installation, allowing the fitting to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining surface or lowered for double-height entrance halls. The polished chrome finish pairs with both warm-toned and cool contemporary interiors, while the ivory white shades soften the metallic glare and provide diffused ambient light rather than focused task lighting.

The pleated fabric shades are rigid rather than soft-gathered, maintaining their tapered drum shape without sagging over time. The chrome arms terminate in decorative finials below the shades, balancing the visual weight of the upper structure. What ceiling height is needed?

The 650mm minimum drop works in rooms with 2.4m ceilings when hung above a dining table, positioning the chandelier approximately 700-800mm above the surface. Higher ceilings up to 3.2m can use the adjustable chain to lower the fitting further without requiring additional chain length.

Can the shades be cleaned?

The ivory white pleated fabric shades attract dust over time. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner set to low suction, or wipe gently with a barely-damp microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking the fabric or using spray cleaners, which may stain the pleats.
