Description

The Mara is a 64cm diameter 3-light chandelier with curved French gold arms extending from a central column, each arm supporting an E14 fitting beneath an ivory white pleated shade. The frame is finished in a warm antique gold tone with a soft sheen that sits between polished brass and brushed gold, and each arm curves outward then back inward to cradle its shade, creating a symmetrical profile when viewed from below.

Designed for dining rooms, living rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Mara provides ambient light filtered through the pleated fabric shades rather than direct downlighting. The adjustable drop from 650mm to 2500mm allows the chandelier to be set 700-900mm above a dining table or positioned higher as a centrepiece in a double-height hallway. The 64cm diameter suits tables 1.4-1.8m long or rooms with floor areas of 15-25m².

The pleated shades are made from ivory white fabric with vertical ribbing that diffuses the light evenly and softens the appearance of the bulb inside. Each shade measures approximately 200mm in diameter and tapers slightly towards the base. The French gold frame is constructed from formed steel with a lacquered finish, and the curved arms are reinforced where they join the central column to support the combined weight of shades and bulbs. Small crystal droplets hang below the shade mounts, adding a subtle decorative accent without dominating the design.

The chandelier uses three E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm white LED candle bulbs at 2700K for soft ambient lighting. Maximum recommended wattage per bulb is 40W.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The chandelier itself is passive. Dimming depends entirely on the bulb and wall switch combination.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 650mm means the chandelier sits at least 650mm below the ceiling rose. For a standard 2.4m ceiling, this leaves approximately 1.75m clearance below the chandelier, which suits most dining and living room applications. The drop can be extended to 2500mm for higher ceilings or stairwells.

Can the shades be cleaned?

The ivory white fabric shades can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuumed gently on a low setting using an upholstery attachment. For deeper cleaning, remove the shades (they typically lift off the bulb holders) and wipe with a barely-damp microfibre cloth. Do not soak or machine wash.
