Description

The Malinska is a ceiling fan with light in one low, round body, 55cm across and 20cm tall, so it sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging down into the room. The body is white ABS, a light and tough plastic. Around the fan runs a broad ring of acrylic with a crystal effect, patterned with small facets that catch and scatter the light. The blades turn behind a white grille of radiating spokes, so there are no long arms sweeping overhead. The light comes from integrated LEDs: three lights at 12.6W each, rated at 1,600lm per light, with a colour temperature range of 2700K to 6500K. It is an indoor fitting, made for the dry rooms of the house.

We see it most at home in a bedroom, where a gentle breeze on a warm night and the main light come from the same fitting. It suits a living room just as well, and when the fan is still the faceted ring reads as a decorative ceiling light rather than an appliance. Because the blades sit behind the grille and the body is only 20cm tall, it sits neatly in rooms without much headroom, where a fan with open blades hanging low would crowd the space. One fitting doing two jobs also means one fewer lamp to place and a tidier ceiling.

The remote control comes in the box and controls the fan, which has three speeds, and the light is dimmable. It runs on 220-240V, 50Hz mains and carries energy class E.
