Description

The Malcolm is a 460mm diameter chandelier built around a wrought-iron cage structure finished in aged black metal with brushed gold accents. Four cylindrical clear glass lanterns sit inside the cage frame, each housing an upward-facing E27 bulb fitting. The glass lanterns diffuse light outward through the decorative metalwork while the open top allows light to wash the ceiling.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and double-height entrance spaces with ceiling heights from 2.4m upward, the Malcolm works on a drop adjustable between 720mm and 2200mm. The 460mm width suits tables 1.4-1.8m long or hallway widths of 1.2-1.5m. The four E27 fittings take any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W each (sold separately), allowing you to choose the light temperature and output that suits the room.

The black metalwork shows deliberate aging and wear marks that give the fitting an antique appearance, while the brushed gold highlights pick out the scrollwork details at the top and bottom of the cage. The four glass lanterns are hand-blown cylinders that sit inside individual metal cradles, creating a Victorian lantern effect. The combined weight of 3.9kg requires a ceiling fixing rated for at least 6kg.

For a dining table, position the chandelier 700-800mm above the table surface. If your ceiling is 2.4m high and the table is 750mm tall, a total drop of around 950mm will give 700mm clearance above the table, which falls within the 720-2200mm adjustable range.

How is the black and gold finish applied?

The metal frame is powder-coated black, then distressed and aged to show wear marks and tonal variation. Gold highlights are brush-applied to the raised decorative elements. This finish is designed to look weathered and antique rather than uniform.
