The Malang is a glass pendant light: a single clear glass shade, tapering gently from a narrow top to a wider open base, hung from a lampholder on a twisted cable. It is made from brass and glass, and the metalwork comes in four finishes, Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Silver or Polished Brass, so you can choose a bright, soft or aged look. The pendant is 40cm tall and 14cm across, and it hangs on 1m of cable as standard. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes one E27 bulb, up to 40W per bulb. Because the glass is clear, the bulb sits in full view inside the shade and becomes part of the design, so it is worth choosing one you like the look of.

We would hang it in a dining room, low over the table, where the slim glass shade keeps the view across the table open. It also suits a living room, over a side table or a reading chair, or in a corner that needs a point of light. At 14cm across it is narrow enough to hang two or three in a line over a longer table. The finishes help it sit with what is already there: pick Antique Brass or Antique Silver beside older furniture, or Satin Brass or Polished Brass for a fresher look. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

Every light is made to order for you, in Ireland, from brass and glass. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered by that guarantee. This is a mains fitting, and it is for a qualified electrician to wire in to the mains.
