Description

A slim bar of light for the Magneto magnetic track system, this one draws 8W and puts out a warm 3000K glow through a diffuser rather than a naked lens. At 300mm long it reads as a short, low line above your head, with the black finish carried across the body and the ends so it settles into a black track run instead of interrupting it. The LED and its driver are built in, so there is nothing to fit and nothing to replace later on.

Because the light is spread rather than thrown, it lays down a soft band on whatever sits beneath it: a length of worktop, a run of open shelving, a desk, a shallow display niche. We reach for it where a row of spotlights would look fussy or would scallop the wall behind, and where the job is even working light rather than accent. It is not dimmable, so it works on a plain switched circuit, and it suits kitchens, hallways, studies and small retail bays. Being rated for dry interiors, keep it away from bathroom zones and anywhere exposed.

The housing is a narrow extrusion with the diffuser set into its face, and the matt black finish is quiet enough to disappear against a dark ceiling. To clean it, isolate the circuit at the wall, wait for the fitting to lose its heat, then run a barely damp cloth along the diffuser to lift kitchen film and finish with a dry one; nothing abrasive, as the diffuser will scuff. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the rest of the Magneto range alongside it, including metre lengths of surface and recessed track, matching end caps, L-joints for turning a run round a corner or across a wall, and a push or triac controller for the system as a whole. Mix these linear lights with track spots along the same run if you want both wash and focus.
